The Receptionist is responsible for customer service, reservations, retail inventory, processing invoices and payments, processing enrollments and administrative duties in support of these functions. Additionally, this position is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the retail/reception area.

Essential Functions

  • Greets and welcomes customers.
  • Answers calls promptly, asking callers if they are willing to hold when serving someone at the reception desk.
  • Demonstrate appreciation for customers’ use of daycare and grooming services and encourage their continued business.
  • Utilize friendly and informative sales techniques to up-sell products and services.
  • Plans and assigns daily goals, tasks and assignments.
  • Provides tours of the facility utilizing tour script to answer questions related to store policies and procedures.
  • Deal effectively and in a friendly, attentive manner with dissatisfied customers.
  • Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Manages all office tasks, including receipt of payment and invoice processing.
  • Balance cash register daily.
  • Adhere to all procedures related to daycare and grooming check-in and checkout requirements
  • Maintain inventory and stock in well-organized manner.

Work Environment

This job operates in a store and animal service environment including daycare, boarding and grooming.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, use a calculator, cash register, telephone and computer. This job requires the employee to lift at least 25 pounds infrequently.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time and part-time position. Both full and part-time will require some weekends and holidays. Occasional evening work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Education and Experience

Some experience in the customer service industry as a receptionist.
