Summary/Objective

The Receiving Clerk assists in unloading delivery trucks and compares received products to packing lists to ensure that deliveries are complete. The Receiving Clerk is responsible to track deliveries and troubleshooting order issues with the Company warehouse. Additionally, the Receiving Clark processes the return of damaged products to the warehouse and works with our warehouse department to update information related to vendor contracts.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a guest-friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest and by maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest services.
  2. Receive products from vendor deliveries and unload trucks at the loading docks.
  3. Compare packing lists to company purchase orders and ensure that the products in each delivery match the packing list.
  4. Collaborate with our marketing department to develop a schedule for assembling and displaying manufacturer marketing pieces on the sales floor.
  5. Update the product inventory as products are received and added to our inventory.
  6. Package products for return to vendors and fill out any Overages, Shortages and Damages (OSD’s) paperwork necessary prior to the shipment being picked up.
  7. Inspect merchandise for goods integrity.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies
  1. Must possess an understanding of OSHA safety rules for warehouse work
  2. Ability to lift to 50 pounds at a time unassisted
  3. Strong computer skills
  4. Ability to Safely Operate a Forklift within retail environment
Work Environment

This job operates in a retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that weigh more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part time or full time position. Days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work are required as schedule demands.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Preferred Education and Experience

Previous retail or customer service experience.
