Since I can remember, I have had a natural connection with animals. Growing up, my family had a house full of pets and it taught me how incredible animals really are. I thought it would be so cool to work with animals but at the time, I imagined that would entail working at a veterinarian’s office.
I knew I wanted a job where I could make a difference in someone’s life and be able to help those in need. I thought nursing was something that would provide exactly that. I attended a nursing program and obtained my Certified Nurse’s Assistant license. For a couple of years I worked part-time assisting the elderly in their homes. During that time, I saw that a pet store was hiring for multiple positions, including the dog bathing position. I applied to be a cashier thinking experience was required to be a dog bather. When I came in for my interview, I was surprised with the offer of the bather position. I joined Care-A-Lot Pet Supply in 2013.
I fell in love with my new job right away and knew that grooming was exactly what I wanted to do. Grooming has brought so much happiness to my life and has really helped me build self-confidence. It brings me joy to see the happy reaction of a pet parent to their babies fresh new cut. I have really enjoyed my time getting to know all of our clients and the different personalities of each of their pups.
